Who am I?
My journey is similar to many, a combination of serendipity and opportunity.
I began working at a restaurant when I was 12 years old. Yup, that’s right— child labor! I loved the hustle and bustle, the instant gratification of a guest’s reaction, the hospitality. I continued to work for the family restaurant all the way through college.
I worked part time, while studying psychology as an undergraduate with the goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. After taking a gap year between undergraduate and graduate school, and traveling for six months, I knew an alternative path was beginning to unravel for me.
When I came home, I was feeling more inspired than ever. I wanted to continue learning, but I was no longer aligned to the idea graduate school— thanks to an epiphany I had in Portugal. Instead, I decided to dive deeper into one of my passions, wine.
I began taking wine seriously, and studying for exams through the Court of Master Sommeliers. I completed my level one sommelier exam in 2019, and my Certified Sommelier exam in 2023.
While studying for my Certified exam, I began hosting wine classes at my home during Covid. Oddly enough Covid was the perfect recipe for my business. It provided a unique option for a safe and fun activity in the comfort of one’s home.
Teaching was never something I thought I would find myself doing, but after my first wine class I not only surprised myself, but I fell in love with the process.
It became apparent almost instantly that this was my “thing”. I was good at it and I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to keep learning and teaching. I wanted to share my love for wine and inspire others to look deeper into their glass. This is what brings me to you. My goal is to remove the intimidation layer around wine, instill confidence when purchasing wine, and equip you with the tools to navigate the vast world of wine.
